Lytle Primary is now a looping campus for Kindergarten and 1st Grade classes.  Looping is when a class stays with the same teacher even though they are advancing to a new grade level.  When a child participates in the looping process, he or she will have the same teacher for two years in a row, both Kindergarten and 1st grade.

There are many benefits to looping for students.  The benefits to looping include reduced apprehension at the start of a new school year, increased continuity in class procedures and behaviors and more in-depth relationships with a child's teacher and peers.  Research has shown that the long-term relationships established through looping have been shown to support student learning.

Near the end of each school year, a note will be sent home with all Kindergarten students, asking if parents would like their child to loop up to the next grade level or start with a new teacher in the 1st grade.  If you do not agree, your child will be placed with another 1st grade teacher.
